Licensing a Teacher in Abu Dhabi

In order to be licensed as a teacher by the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledgel (ADEK), you will need to meet the following requirements:

  1. Hold a bachelor's degree in education or a related field from an accredited institution. You may need to provide transcripts and it advisable to apply for them from your university if you don't have them.

  2. Have at least two years of teaching experience. You will need to provide a stamped experience letter from your school.

  3. Pass a background check.

  4. Obtain a valid work visa for the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

In addition, you may be required to complete additional training or professional development in order to maintain your license. It is also important to note that ADEC has specific requirements for teaching licenses in different subject areas, so you will need to ensure that you meet the specific requirements for your area of expertise.

To explain some of the terms below.

The No Object Certificate is not needed if you ae new to the country.

Education Qualification Certificates will need to be attested by a notary, Foreign Office apostille and UAE Embassy stamp to provide an equivalency.

Your work experience will need to be signed and stamped by your current school.

If you are native English then no need to have a language assessment.

Other supporting documents could be a any qualifications that support management positions, such as SENDCO qualifications or Headship qualifications.
